Renowned filmmaker Rohit Shetty and actor John Abraham are collaborating for the first time ever. According to the reports, John Abraham will essay the title role of Rakesh Maria in his biopic film. The film will be produced by Rohit Shetty. Rakesh Maria is a former government employee.

Director Rohit Shetty met Rakesh Maria in 2022 where they discussed a potential biopic movie. The biopic is planned to honour the remarkable contribution of Rakesh Maria. The movie is set to release in 2026 with its filming beginning in June 2025.

Besides John Abraham, actress Rakul Preet Singh has been approached by makers to play the female lead in the film. John Abraham and Rakul Preet Singh have previously worked together. Popular and critically acclaimed actor Pankaj Tripathi will be seen in a key role in the film.

Rohit Shetty
Rohit Shetty is one of the biggest movie directors in India. He is widely known for directing, writing and producing movies on action, comedy and drama genre. Most of his films have emerged blockbusters. Unlike his previous films, Rohit Shetty won’t direct his and John Abraham’s film. He will be producing the film. There is no confirmation yet but one of Rohit Shetty’s assistant director will direct the film.
John Abraham
John Abraham is presently busy filming his upcoming films. The actor 2 to 3 big movies scheduled to release in 2025. Along with Rohit Shetty, John Abraham will be co-producing the biopic movie based on the life of Rakesh Maria. John Abraham has previously played similar roles. The actor played a similar role in 2018 drama film which received widespread critical acclaim and is considered as John Abraham’s best film till date.
Besides his film with Rohit Shetty, John Abraham has several other films set to release in 2026.
